Annual Litigation Trends Survey Highlights Growth in “Mass” Claims

Norton Rose Fulbright has published its 12th Annual Litigation Trends survey. This one leads with MORE CLASS ACTIONS as number 3 trend.

The survey summarises, “The rise of social connectivity to bring parties together and support to execute class actions from organizers and funders has led to a general rise in the volume of class actions. The impact of class actions is now being felt outside the US.”

This certainly reflects LML’s experience, and the mention of social media is important. The work required to organise a group of claimants is significant and very specialist. But experts in this field are emerging and 1 in 6 companies now ranks the threat of class actions as within the top 5 types of claim that they worry about.
